Gloomwood Stealth Guide — Master Light, Shadow and Sound to Stay Unseen

Gloomwood's stealth rests on two readable systems: light and sound. This deep dive explains how visibility works in light and shadow, how your own movement noise betrays you, and how leaning, timing and reading patrols let you move unseen. Master these and you can pick your fights, avoid the ones you cannot win, and glide through the cursed city the way the game intends — methodically, silently and in control.

FAQ

FAQ

A first-person stealth immersive sim set in a cursed Victorian city, openly inspired by Thief and classic survival horror. You play a captured doctor sneaking and escaping using shadow, sound and eccentric weapons like a concealed cane sword. It pairs light-and-sound stealth with survival-horror tension — manual gramophone saves and a grid inventory. Single-player only.
It is developed by New Blood Interactive with a core team including David Szymanski (composer and developer of DUSK), Dillon Rogers, Nate Berens and Thomas Porta. It entered Early Access on 5 September 2022 and remains in active development.
It is demanding but fair. Difficulty comes from scarce resources, limited saves and unforgiving detection rather than reflexes. Move slowly in shadow, treat noise as your real enemy, lean to scout, save deliberately at gramophones, and avoid fights you do not need. Methodical players do well.
It is still in Early Access, with content released district by district, so it is not yet complete. It is a single-player, buy-to-play game at a low price (around 15 USD) with no microtransactions or lootboxes.
No. The Steam store lists English only for interface, audio and subtitles. There is no official Japanese, Chinese or Korean localization, though the experience leans on atmosphere and systems more than dense text.
