Boon Fundamentals — Focus the Damage
Boons enhance Attack, Special, Cast, Dash, and more. The build-level rule is one — funnel damage into either Attack or Special, never both. Splitting damage between them produces two mediocre damage sources.
Each god has a specialty. Some shine on Attack, some on Cast, some thrive paired with Dash or area effects. Decide your damage source first based on the weapon and Aspect, then pick the god whose specialty reinforces it.
Key God Identities
| God | Specialty | One-Liner |
|---|---|---|
| Zeus | Chain lightning (Jolted) | AoE-friendly DoT. Pairs with high-hit weapons |
| Ares | Doom DoT and AoE | Slow burn, the cornerstone of status builds |
| Poseidon | Knockback and bonus damage | Wall-slam combos. Easy to use early |
| Aphrodite | Weak debuff and healing | Soften enemies and stay alive |
| Artemis | Crit chance | Boosts single-hit damage via critical hits |
Building Strong Runs
Duo Boons require holding enough Boons from both gods. Pick up early Boons from both planned gods, and use the Keepsake of one to bias the very first Boon offered. Steering the build deliberately is how you reach the Duo consistently.
Weapon Pairings
Weapon and Aspect choice also dictates Boon direction. High-hit weapons love status builds, heavy single-hit weapons love crits. Weapon details are in Weapons and Aspects, and the early-game basics live in the Beginner Guide.
★Honest Take: The Build Click is Addictive
Honestly, the runs where a status effect fuses with a high-hit weapon and enemies just melt are the best dopamine in the game. Conversely, splitting damage between Attack and Special leaves you weak. Committing early to a single damage axis, and then building toward a specific Duo, is where Hades' best moments live.
